Here's one outreach idea... (and this is Allison, signed in as Ken)
Spoke with someone earlier today at the Chattanoga Rescue Mission. This organization provides backpacks filled with warm mittens, hats, personal care items, etc. to homeless individuals on Christmas Eve each year.

At this time, two options for helping this organization would be:
1) They still need combs, nail clippers, pocket-sized notebooks, some backpacks (can be used), and small hand sanitizers donated. We could either take up a collection and have someone (me??) buy and deliver them, or members could pick an item and bring a multi-pack (from the Dollar Store perhaps??) to Sabbath School. Only problem is they need the items by next Monday or Tuesday, so we would need to bring the items to church this upcoming Sabbath (which doesn't leave much time for announcements).
AND/OR
2) They still need help assembling the backpacks on Thursday Dec. 17 between 9-11a and 6-8p. (Ken and I wouldn't be able to do this, but others would be welcome.) We just need to let them know ahead of time, and the slots may fill up.

Just an idea--anyone interested?
