The Chattanoga Rescue Mission provides backpacks filled with warm mittens, hats, personal care items, etc. to homeless individuals on Christmas Eve each year. Here are two ways we can help:
1) They still need small combs, nail clippers, pocket-sized spiral notebooks, some backpacks (can be used), and small hand sanitizers donated. If you would like to participate, please bring one or more of these items to Sabbath School this Sabbath December 12. Some of these items could be purchased in multi-packs, at the Dollar Store, etc. (Since this is fairly short notice, we'll also have the option of contributing funds and then someone will purchase and deliver the items by the Tuesday deadline.)
2) The Mission still needs help assembling the backpacks on Thursday Dec. 17 between 9-11a and 6-8p. We do need to notify them ahead of time, so let me know if this is something you'd like to do.
With the cold weather and snow we've had lately, I'm certain we were all thankful for warm clothes and a warm place to sleep. This is something small we can do to help others in need!

One of my best Christmas things to do is to see the decorations. I am game for a trip to the Gatlinburg area or the Opryland Hotel. I would be willing to drive (we could rent a van from SAU transportation). Or if anyone has another place, closer, in mind. But I would love to do this with a group of friends. I have been to these places in the past and they are absolutely wonderful.
