April 12th Outing

The Tanner's want to thank everyone for their participation in the cookout at our home. We have gotten lots of comments and complements, but without your presence, it would not have been a success. Most of all, thank you Lord for making this happen. Thank you Lord for the great weather, great people, great food and the opportunity to fellowship. You just don't know how much good it does us to have events like this and have everything work so well together with everyone's input. Hopefully we will do it again. We are blessed to be a part of this Sabbath School class.

Here is the chili recipe'. It is from the "Dutch Oven Cookin'" book by Dick Stucki.
FIREHOUSE CHILI
6lbs. meat
1/2 cup butter
5 large onions, diced
4 green bell peppers, diced
4 cloves of garlic, minced
3 bay leaves
3T. chili powder
1T. paprika
6 cups tomato sauce
3T. boullion in 2/3 cup red wine vinegar
2T. tobasco sauce
1T. oregano
2, 7oz. cans diced green chillies
1 1/2 T. cumin

Melt butter. Cook meat. Add onions and peppers. Saute until tender. Add all other ingredients and mix well. Simmer

As you know, I did not follow that exactly. No meat is necessary. I added red kidney beans as a substitute/filler. I mixed all the flavorings together then added that after cooking the onions, peppers, beans and tomato sauce. Plus I added a bit more hot sauce.
