Sabbath School Lesson Commentary - Who is a Prophet

Dan led the lesson this week. His question went unanswered: "What makes some-one a Prophet??"

Some things we did decide on for a person to be considered a Prophet(ess). They include:

• There has to be a message from God.
• It has to be delivered.
• The Prophet(ess) has to be called by God
• You can't decide to be or go to school to become a Prophet
  

Some things that we decided could be included but were too broad by themselves included:

• A specific message to a specific people
• that could include our pastor
  
• Foretelling the future

Some things that we decided about prophets included:

• A prophet is not always righteous
• They can go astray either before or after their message
  
• A prophet is still human
